“Explode the Rose” is the first solo recording by Rob Logan (Desert Liminal / Midnight Minds). The album is as much self-examination as it is an exploration of composition and DIY recording by means of electronic instruments and sampling. The music on “Explode The Rose” deals with themes of nostalgia, spirituality, satire, and the processing and healing of mental and physical trauma. Logan’s hypnotic euphoniousness makes moves via electronic ambience, new-age tranquility, sampling, and even Carpenter-esque techno throb to create an album bursting with infectious expression. The title comes from the healing practice of imagining a mental or physical blockage as an abstract image and destroying it.
