Nu Sire is Jason James, who is active between the various underground communities of noise, techno, hardcore and metal in Los Angeles. Human Shield arrives after several years of upstaging everyone in town with noteworthy performances of depth and exactitude. This is continued in recorded form through judicious layering and temperate structures across both sides.
Beginning with ‘Fever Dreams,’ filtered electro-acoustics establish subconscious unease as they and coil and unfurl with the restrained drones and pitches, building to a full stop. For the title track, a similarly minimal introduction promptly advances to a more frenetic atmosphere with immediate and direct signals that are enveloped into a vital storm of dynamic harsh electrostatics.
