When Ab from Cartas de Cartalunya (OCFC-002) sent me Christi Annu Ali Vyianna I thought it was another of his alter egos because it shared the same dreamscape Brazilian cyclical mesmerism. But whereas Ab and Dinho traffic in the kind of heroic dose episodic fever dream of collage cut urbanity, GG produces kaleidoscopes. It’s a quieter, spooling pattern printer of allied resonances that puts you in the frame of the vibes, vibration. There is no start to a cloud in the sky, it’s just development and dispersion. And then when you think about the intersection of light and air and color and then trip out on how really that’s just happening in our brains, in our eyes that perception. Kamaal told his father, “Well, daddy don’t you know that things go in cycles?” I mean there are always cycles, but then there are CYCLES. And then the cycles on top of cycles making cycles that cycle, well that’s just the polyrhythm of the planet and the universe. Easy to perceive, hard to lasso.
