Laura Muñoz’s Chucha project has been responsible for a healthy chunk of the freshest, most mind-bending live sets I’ve seen since she began playing live in 2016; each performance discretely satisfying but also an opportunity to see the unfolding development of a deep, askew. and singular vision that is as inviting as it is strange. Her first full-length release “What Remains” finds her operating in a more stripped-down fashion, with six concise tracks of buoyant, entrancing electronic music that combine academic sound with propulsive electropop, mutant murmurings and synthetic lingerings. The 505 drum machine is a new addition to the palette, temporally tethering the tracks with a reconfigured sound of the past, the effect is like viewing the point where the sky meets the street.
